Ironmans Aren't The Only Races...

... that sell out in less than an hour. There's one little ol' sprint in the south that can claim the same. The 2008 River Cities Triathlon in Shreveport, Louisiana opened for registration today at 6 AM and an hour later all 1,300 slots were filled. This late-summer sweatfest gets lots of attention for its huge swag bag and elite athlete draw. (The course record is held by this guy.)

Sooooo... did I get me one them slots? Awwww'hell yeah I did! On August 3rd I'll return to the red clay, sandy beach and piny woods to put my fitness to the test.

Here I am finishing the race in 2006.

Stay tuned...

Curly Su, the distances are 800 meter swim, 19 mile bike, and 5k run.

Clif, one of the things that makes this a popular race is the swag. In 2006 the goodies included sunglasses and luggage perfect for race gear.

Nice speedo. Gotta do something about the tan lines though. :-)

Was it Lance that made the race so popular or has it always been a sellout?
