Circled

Just looking at it makes my heart beat fast. It's just a piece of paper... with a date... and a circle in pencil around 16.

December 16, that is.

My race season preparation begins with a 7 mile run at an easy pace. The route will be a familiar suburban landscape through neighborhoods, over railroad tracks, and leaf blanketed trails of my favourite park. The focus will be familiar as well. Gone will be the days of making up my own routine and recording my training in my log only if I feel like it... if I trained at all. No, on the 16th a renewed training purpose will point the way.

It's just a pencil circle on a piece of paper. But one point in time marking a purposed future. And, a promising one at that.

Come along for the journey, 'BoomerNation. It's going to be good.

The first stop... The AT&T Austin Half Marathon on February 17, 2008 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Stay tuned...

Where did our off-season go? All of a sudden, I feel like I should be training again. Kind of a bummer.

Good luck restarting your training, and with your fundraising work in the year ahead.

My training started last week. Funny how once the "program" begins, it's all business.
