All Walker No More

Believe it or not, I have followed my orthopedic surgeon's and physical therapist's prescribed treatments to the letter. To. The. Letter. And guess what? Could it be they really do know what they are doing? Because my knee is feeling almost like new. Yes, every now and then the knee gives me some smack talk when climbing stairs or getting into a car but other than that it's no longer giving me pain.

And here's the exciting news. Today I ran! It wasn't much but I ran!

The workout was a 60 minute track session of walk 400 yards, run 400 yards slow, continuous repeat.

Gone are the days of only walking... I hope.

Although I didn't even as much as break a sweat I felt like it was good training. Perhaps more for the mind than for the body, right?

Only three weeks of physical therapy remain and then, a formal evaluation for surgery. Keep your fingers crossed I can avoid the knife and heal fully.

Stay tuned...

Great news!! Several years back an MRI showed that I also had a small tear in the medial meniscus of my left knee. I went the PT route and avoided surgery. I hope you will be able to do the same.

That's great news about your knee. Too bad I missed you at Texasman. After David said he bumped into you, I looked around but I guess you were gone already. Maybe next time :-)

Awesome TriBoomer! Don't get too eager though. Take it easy, there will be plenty of time to tear it up.

I guess that's why these docs go to school for many, many years! You're one of the few patients that actually followed their advice to a "t"! Welcome Back to the running world!
