This is my second year in a row to run in this historic race and am looking forward to a better experience than last year. Gone are the high nor'easter winds and rains. Instead of temperatures below 40 degrees the forecast is for race day to be in the high 50s. But like last year I'm again undertrained for the race and it has me worried.
Since the end of February I've been nursing a bum left knee. A orthopedic surgeon diagnosed it as tendinitis of the patellar tendon. Caused by over use and a possible muscle imbalance resulting in the joint, tendons, and ligaments not tracking in perfect alignment. There's no magic pill or injection to make it all right. Instead I had to rest it until it healed. That meant many weeks on the sidelines. Sure my knee healed (I think) but I lost running fitness.
My goal time for tomorrow is just to finish... uninjured.
I'm thankful to be here and look forward to bringing you a race report full of good times.
Wish me luck and...
Stay tuned...
