Double Your Money

Well 'BoomerNation the last time we saw each other I said there was an exciting development and the time has come to make it. And, the surprise development involved a two-fer.

It seems that after raising to fight blood cancers for the past three years a we bit of attention has come this way and a benefactor has stepped forward with an interesting pledge. The benefactor has made a challenge offer of doubling every dollar donated, up to $2,500, by you towards my efforts in running in the AT&T Austin (Half) Marathon on February 17th benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

You read right... for every dollar donated becomes two! But.... there's a twist. A couple of twists, actually.

First is the offer to double the money up to $2,500 happens only if I raise at least $2,500. Yep, to get the match the minimum raised must exceed $2,500. No pressure there, eh?

Oh yes.... there's another twist. The beneficiary's matching dollars will be donated to the Journey of Hope Center in Plano, Texas.

You may remember I wrote this past November about my triathlon teammate Dorothy Barnett-Griffen who tragically died during Ironman Florida 2007 when something went terribly wrong during the swim. She and her husband were raising money for the Journey of Hope Grief Support Center.

I'm proud to run the half-marathon in memory of her life and her mission. Our generous benefactor will make this gift in YOUR honor.

So what do you think? Donate to fight blood cancers and help a child learn to mourn the death of a family member at the same time.

To me, that's an exciting opportunity, and well worth running 13.1 miles for.

To make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society go to TriathlonCares.com or email me and I will send you an address to mail your gift.

Stay tuned...
