Iceman Cometh!

Today was supposed to be a normal training day with a two hour ride and 45 minute run. No big. Just a typical Saturday on the road to Ironman Wisconsin. Then last night, as I was putting my gear together, I remembered there was a local sprint triathlon in the morning. My tri-posse buddies, Ahmed (1st in age group and 4th overall), Dave, Coach Scott, Barry, Bryon, Margo, Marcie (1st in age group) and newly biker-turned-triathete Allez were racing. With a 7 AM start and the race being only a sprint I figured I could show some spectatin' face and get my workout on before I could say, "what's for lunch?!"

The Iceman Srint Tri is put on by a first class race director and owner of the Dallas Athletes tri team. Never, and I mean never, has he put on a bush-league show and today would be no exeption. Around 300 athletes braved the high 30s and gusty winds, set up thier transion area, and toed the pool's edge.

While waiting for the race to start I saw LanceNotStrong on deck. He was there to cheer on Allez. (By the way, he's racing in his first ever triathlon next weekend. Woot! Another one's gonna join the bruthahood.)

Despite looking cold as they crossed the finish line all of my buddies were strong and happy... happy it was done. Everyone made it to the finish, safe and uninjured.
Plus, just in time for me to get in my training, grab some lunch, and test drive of one of these...

Oh, before I forget... there's still time to enter the "Predict This (for Charity)!" contest and win some cash for charity.
It's only 8 days until my first Boston Marathon!
Stay tuned...

I love that Tri-Love support. Its one of things that got me hooked in Tri. We should just take the advice of Lewis Black (Stand-up Comedian) and build a Giant wall across the boarder of Canada because that is where the cold air comes from.

Congrats! Are you running your fist Boston with TNT? I ran my 1st Boston (and my 1st marathon) last year with TNT/Boston team. This year, I volunteered at our Sat practice runs and mentored a couple of 1st timers. I will be at mile 20.5 at our TNT table. (The other TNT water stop is at Mile 15.)
